In order to become a sales associate you must meet the following requirements:
The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) was created to protect the public through education and regulation of real estate licensees. The Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate. Four members must be licensed brokers, each of whom has held an active license for five years preceding appointment. One member must be a licensed broker or a licensed sales associate who has held an active license for two years preceding appointment. Two members must be persons who are not, and have never been, brokers or sales associates. At least one member of the Commission must be 60 years of age or older. Members of the Commission shall be appointed for four-year terms.
Mutual recognition allows for a sales associate or broker to apply as a sales associate or broker in Florida exempting them from the pre-license education and requiring them to take the 40 question Florida laws section of the state exam.
Florida has mutual recognition agreements with 9 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, and Rhode Island. All applicants eligible for Florida licensure must use approved Florida education providers for mutual recognition consideration.
